  • Lack of detailed product information

You want your customer’s experience in your online store to be as close to shopping in a real store. One huge difference is: information. In a storefront, a customer can go up to any employee and ask a question. Be sure to include detailed product descriptions that answer almost every question. You want to keep people on your site.

  • Tiny Product Images

Customers cannot physically touch and look at the products in your eCommerce store. Be sure to make images high resolution and provide different angles of the product. A good image size to tell your web design team you want is 1024 X 768 pixels.

  • Only one product image

Always include four to five images. If the product comes in different colours, provide swatches and photos of those colours. You don’t want your customer guessing what product they are ordering. This can easily be modified into the eCommerce design without looking overwhelming.

  • Poor shopping cart design

When working with your web design team on your online store, check out big website’s online stores. Copy what you see. A simple design that a child could navigate. Make sure your customers can get back to the previous page they were viewing. Using a pop up shopping cart is an easy way to do this.

  • Hiding contact information

Make your customer service contact information VISIBLE in the design. The last thing you want is to lose a sale over poor design.
